Infomorph anarchism
Mind uploading technology—the transfer of the human mind to a computer—is one of the great goals of current transhumanism, and in fact, it's something that one of our best futurists, Raymond Kurzweil, responsible for predicting several current technological advances, believes will be possible around 2045. I personally see recent advances in AI and brain-machine interfaces as a reason for optimism in this regard.
Obviously, arch-anarchists are no exception, since the possibility of gaining immortality via mind backup is perfectly aligned with our goals. And as A formulated it, the individual is "nothing more than a specific configuration of information, a collection of data and processing protocols" (an idea clearly inspired by wisdomism, cited in the author's notes as a moral theory compatible with arch-anarchy). Therefore, the substrate in which our identity is expressed is irrelevant, as long as the configuration is preserved.
Now, a favorite technology of libertarians is blockchain, a distributed data logging system across multiple computers that gives rise to cryptocurrencies, smart contracts, and DAOs. And of course, blockchain is also useful for data security in general because it doesn't depend on central servers. Therefore, I propose that when we have mind uploading technology, we can combine it with blockchain and create virtual worlds free from the control of any nation-state.
Now, consider this: political coercion depends on bodily vulnerability. Institutions like prisons, borders, and armed forces operate on bodies located in physical space. When the mind can migrate, replicate, or exist in multiple computational environments, coercion loses its main purpose.
In this new frontier, the economy is entirely digital. Property is defined by the control of cryptographic keys and smart contracts. There is no compulsory taxation, coercive redistribution, or involuntary expropriation.
Markets are emerging for the exchange of computational resources, storage, cognitive time, and simulated environments, operating exclusively through self-executing voluntary agreements.
Security is informational, not military. Protection against attacks occurs through cryptography, redundancy, and decentralization. Attempts at systemic capture are mitigated by the right to fork, which dissolves concentrated power by allowing collective migration.
A likely outcome is cybersecurity services similar to security programs on a home computer, but in this case more like a home defense service.
This new model is based on the following axioms:
Cognitive self-ownership: every conscious mind owns itself, regardless of its substrate.
Absolute morphological freedom: no entity can impose or restrict the form of existence of a mind without consent.
Total voluntary association: all normative, social, or economic interaction must be opt-in and reversible.
Right to fork: every mind has the inalienable right to abandon systems, protocols, or rules through migration or bifurcation. Now, this model, in addition to vast freedom from a political standpoint, also brings great freedom to arch-anarchists in relation to the laws of nature. You no longer have the limitations of a biological body, such as sleep, fatigue, or hunger. Eating or drinking becomes merely recreational (in this case, a brain simulation). You can change your physical form as you see fit, be it height, color, or even sex. We can program our worlds according to our own laws of nature; forget gravity, you can fly. Of course, the digital universe would still be limited not only by processing and data restrictions, but also because the external hardware would be subject to the laws of nature (which is the reason for the aforementioned limitations, obviously), as well as the logic that governs the functioning of computers. Even so, the advance in individual freedom would be indescribable.
